Playing Catch Up...

It has taken a while for my wrist to feel up to the task of doing very much at all, and now life is beginning to return to normal and it's time to play catch up just a little bit before life gets in the way of blogging for reasons other than a weak wrist!

Way back in March my son Jon married his wonderful fiancee Elisha, and we made the journey to the wicked South to be there. It was a perfect wedding, a simple ceremony at Dunstable Register Office, followed by a get-together of the happy couple's nearest and dearest at Luton's Sun Do Chinese restaurant. Wonderfully informal and intimate, and a joy to be there to see two people we love so much joined together in matrimony!

The gathering of the clans - L-R my sister Alys, neice Yvie Marie, my mother, and nephew Laurence.

Daughter Lizz in pink jacket, with my stepson Paul. Dumpy lass on right, having Bad Hair Day is Yours Truly!

Some serious giggling going on with two of the bridesmaids!

My beloved granddaughter Freya taking her handsome daddy for a tour of the grounds...!

The arrival the bridal party.

The bridesmaids enter...

...followed by the blushing bride on her grandfather's arm.

Jon sees his bride at last...

Freya breaks the solemnity - when the registrar asked if anyone knew of any just impediment, she declared in a loud clear voice, 'Iggle Piggle'!

Mr and Mrs!

The witnesses (the mothers of the bride and groom!),  Jon and Elisha and their darling little boy, Alex.

Their first (married!) kiss...

An elegant ensemble!

And another, al fresco.

The happy couple

The minimum of speechifying took place, with plenty of laughter added to anecdotes and good wishes as two families become one.

The reception was very relaxed and informal, as might be expected from a small and intimate gathering of family and friends but it fit the occasion and the people involved to a T!

The buffet certainly confirmed the Sun Do's reputation as the best Chinese Restaurant in town!
The Super Mario themed cake had been a well-kept secret, and a surprise from Elisha to Jon, who loved it of course!

Everyone enjoyed the occasion, from the youngest to the oldest!

The First Dance...
but hang on a minute...!
Something , or someone, is missing!
That's better! Now we're a proper family!

That's just a glimpse into a happy family celebration. If the photos are a little thin on the ground it is because we were too busy enjoying the rapture of the occasion itself to worry over much about being Posterity Perverts!

We have the last of our Spring Bank Holidays coming up tomorrow, and I may get around to catching up with myself, blog-wise, but if the sun appears the garden may come between us! Perhaps I'll actually remember to take some photos so you can share in the progress from wilderness to....wait and see!

Hello? Is there anybody there?

I am still alive...I haven't fallen off the planet or been abducted by aliens, but haven't been able to face updating my blog since breaking my wrist on 26th of February.
However, the physiotherapy is going well and I will soon be able to type with TWO fingers instead of one, and hope to able to cast an eye back over the last couple of months and upload some pics etc!

So, watch this space!
